Damn! I Missed the Annual Stone Pelting Festival... this year.

Stone throwing festival celebrated

Hundreds of people have been injured in an annual stone throwing festival at a remote mountain village in northern India.

Residents of Dhami near Shimla divided themselves into two groups and pelted stones at each other.

The group having the least number of wounded were declared winners reports Asian News International

It is reported participants were extremely enthusiastic about the stone throwing ritual, which continued for more than an hour in spite of injuries sustained.

Local administrators and police set up several makeshift medical camps to treat the bleeding victims.

Now, I'm not sure about you... but if I'm bleeding from voluntarily getting pelted with stones, I'm not so sure I'd worry about being declared a "winner"

Hey, does this remind you of a Douglas Adams novel?

Actually, it kind of sounds like games we used to play in my neighborhood growing up.

That along with games like "Ninja!" where we'd throw steel tipped darts at each other and catch them out of the air with cat-like ninja reflexes.

Not having cat-like ninja reflexes, this involved plucking darts out of arms and legs and throwing them back even harder.

I'm not entirely sure how I survived into adulthood.

Okay, it looks insane, I'll give you that.

But I wonder what they think of us with our preoccupation of a sport that pits two teams against one another using any of amount of brute force necessary to successfully deliver or thwart the delivery of a pigskin into the endzone.

We've only refined gladiator style battling. (Oh, and I love football; I'm just sayin'. : D)

Helllo,

I was searching the internet for darts supply related information and arrived at your website. It was not exactly what i was looking for, however it was quite an interesting read.

I will continue my search now for other darts supply related sites, but I will certainly bookmark this one for future reference.

Thanks again!
